A Sane, Passionate Progressive ~ March 18, 2017
“One of the main things I do at the Sane Progressive is to chip away at fake political beliefs.” ~ Debbie Lusignan
logging may have its detractors, but, you know, who cares? It is essentially a stripped-down newscast, sans the big “production values” of a sweet set and swooping, cool graphics. If you don’t like vlogging, please explain to us how it is inferior to a newscast, where the on-air person has a behind-the-scenes producer screaming in her ear. Vlogging is direct, person-to-person communication. You may not like the vlogger, but at least you know who is talking to you.
“We need a truth movement,” she said, rather than a ‘progressive’ or some other label on our politics. “We are in a post-truth era.”
Debbie Lusignan speaks her mind. Vlogging as The Sane Progressive, she is high octane. (Here's an example.)
“One of the main things I do at the Sane Progressive,” she said in a recent vlog, “is to chip away at fake political beliefs.” We spoke to her not long ago, where she registered frustration at the current political climate. “We need a truth movement,” she said, rather than a ‘progressive’ or some other label on our politics. “We are in a post-truth era.” As an example, she mentioned the “give him a chance” line we now hear about Trump, and not long ago heard about Obama. “The Right is absolutely no different from the Left in terms of propaganda.” She wants to focus attention where the real power lies—the wealthy who control much of what we see and what passes for ‘news.’ “Donald Trump is not calling the shots.”
As far as what we should be doing now, she had some interesting ideas. Change the Democrats to meet real Left needs? “The election system is rigged—we need a peace party.” She added: “We shouldn’t know what to do now.”
